In the City of Burnside, native plants are more than beautiful – they help stabilise our soils, cool our suburbs, support pollinators, and connect us to Country. Biodiversity is not just a concept, it’s our living infrastructure.
Our commitment to conservation is deeply local. At Council’s Biodiversity Nursery, dedicated volunteers propagate thousands of native species that have evolved right here – on the foothills, in the creeks, and across the hills face and East Adelaide Plains for thousands of years.
Every winter, our Local Native Plant Giveaway invites residents to grow part of Burnside’s ecological story in their own gardens. Whether you’re restoring a private creek line, enhancing a hills face property, or planting wildflowers in your backyard, you’re contributing to our city’s green future.
The Local Native Plant Giveaway opens on Saturday 17 May 2025.
